Wardrobe staples for the modern day man

Do you look into your closet full of clothes and feel like you have nothing to wear?
That is because the staples are missing. If you have your wardrode staples in order, you will have endless possibilities.
Each week comes a new item, just in time for you to have bought the last one. And be the end of it all, you will have the perfect wardrobe.

1. White oxford button-down shirt

The white oxford shirt are great for everyday use. If you want to give your suit a more casual feel, or if you are looking for something to throw over your khakis or under your sweater. The fabric is durable and the shirt does not rinkle easily. The oxford shirt truly is a an ace in every mans wardrobe.

2. The versatile polo

A solid color polo are great for those days where a shirt is too formal. Combine it with a pair of short or a blazer, or even both.
Your polo should be of good quality and in a plain color. I prefer a white Lacoste polo. White is the most versatile color and I love the Lacoste fit and quality.

3. Khakis

A good pair of khakis is properly the most versatile item you will ever come across. Khakis are the preppy equivalent to jeans. With a white shirt, brown dress shoes and blazer for the casual summer party at the company retreat or with a t-shirt and sneakers for a lazy sunday dinner.
Khakis goes with anything.

4. A high quality white dress shirt

When we say high quality, we do mean very high quality. A white dress shirt is the most delicate item of clothes anyone will ever own. A white dress shirt is perfect for an evening out or a day at the office. In my opinion, a white dress shirt is the best item of clothes in the world. Nothing looks as good as a crisp white shirt.

Things to look for in a dress shirt:
  1. Opt for the straight collar
    • The straight collar is the most versatile and can be worn without a tie.
  2. Fine cotton
    • Dress shirts should be made of fine cotton because it not only looks dressier than regular cotton and other fabrics, but it also feels more comfortable against your skin. Cotton shirts mixed with synthetics breathe less and lack vividness of color.
  3. The length of things
    • Shirts that fit well have sleeves that end one inch below the wrist bone, collars that fit neatly around the neck without pulling and are not too tight and a shirttail that ends at the crotch to allow enough room to sit or bend.
5. A dark colored suit
Wearing a suit can sometimes be necessary. Necessary or not, a tailored dark suit looks outstanding. Some might say that suit are for people with no personal style, well I beg to differ.
A navy suit, a pair of sleek brown dress shoes and a regiment tie is a stylish combo.
You also have the opportunity of wearing the blazer seperate or combining the pants with a lighter blazer for a more daring ensemble.

6. White t-shirts

Notice the plural. T-shirts, one just wont do it. A white t-shirt is always useful. Whether it's a lazy sunday or a day at the beach, nothing is more suitable or understated cool, than a white t-shirt.
Make sure you pick one in good quality, because nothing says sloppy like a pale "it used to be white but now it's gunky white" t-shirt, washed completly out of shape.

7. Converse Chuck Taylor Allstars

Go for Chuck! You do have a pair, don't you? Well you should have. The best selling shoe in history is a must have.
The reason for this major succes is that it is versatile. "Just rubber and a blank canvas" is what Converse says. And they are absolutely right. The selection of colors and prints are endless and The Chuck Taylor Allstars can be used for what ever you like. When in doubt, go for Chuck. If you don't believe us, why don't you just the owners of the other app. 800 millions pair sold worldwide.

8. Cashmere sweater

Over a t-shirt or under your suit. A cashmere sweater is one item you cannot do without.
Invest in a pure cashmere sweater in a plain color and you will have it for a lifetime. The color does not fade and you won't have to worry about being all scruffy and making you look like a street urchin.
For those cold, but no cold enough for a jacket, days. For the chilly summer nights. A cashmere sweater works.

9. Jeans that fits well
The first step is to find a solid steel container of some sort, get some flammable liquid (could be gasoline), put your baggy jeans in the container, light a match and set the whole thing on fire.
Jeans are not meant to be hanging down by your calves, showing of your underwear.
Your jeans should compliment the shape of your legs, which rules out the bootcut, unless your calves and ancles are larger than your thighs.
Opt for a dark pair of jeans so you can wear them with a blazer for semi-formal event.
