Navigating the Ebay jungle

Your eyes are starting to dry out, page after page of worthless junk. People believing their old clothes are made of pure gold and never decreases in value. Searching after that one things that stand out, but it never seems to appear amongst the 200 or so pages that Ebay presented you with.
You start getting slightly annoyed and wonder why nobody in the entire world has that one item you are looking for. But what exactly are you looking for? Do you know what you are looking for, or are you just looking for something that you cant describe, but you defintely know you want it. Believe me, I've been there. Hours on hours with no apparent goal.
Ebay can be really time consuming. I've found, that the best way to keep your efficiency high and the time to a minimum, is to make some simple rules.

My Ebay buyers guide:

  • Know what you want
When I log on, I always know what I want. Find out what you're looking for, it will save you a ton of time. I have caught myself in searching for 10 different items at a time, just because I got caught up in the plethora of options.
When seraching on Ebay, remeber that it's not a webshop. Not all navy blazers are called "navy blazer". Some might call it "blue blazer" or "navy sportcoat". try a few options before you give up.
Use the specifications to narrow down your search. This will help you narrow down the hundreds of pages.

  • Know your limits
When I figure out what I want, I set a price limit. The maximum amount I am willing to pay.
The price range on ebay is vast and you can easily get caught up, seaching for items way out of your price range.
Make sure your price range is realistic. You are not going to find a navy blazer with gold buttons for $ 15. If your maximum price is way to low you will find yourself increasing the price every 20 minutes, and eventually you will end up searching blindfolded again.

  • Commit
When you find what you want, at a price you are willing to pay, commit to buying or bidding.
If you're not commited to purchasing the item you were looking for, then what is the point, besides wasting time.
Here is the tricky part. If it is an auction, you don't want to raise the price on your desired item, so hold off on bidding just yet. Add it to your watch list. You can choose to recieve an e-mail when the auction is about to end. When the auction is about to end, you make your bid.
If you by some chance should'nt have the time, there is always the autobid option. You simply enter your maximum bid as an autobid, and it will automatically increase your bid with the minimum amount possible, until your maximum bid has been reached.

Yet another wardrobe addition - Slightly altered H&M jacket

I was looking for a low-cost light weight jacket and I chose a tan H&M jacket.
I found it a bit bland, so I decided to spice it up a bit with the red patches.

I have gotten alot of mixed comments, but I think it gives the jacket more life.

I paid $ 3 for the red patches. They were iron-on patches, but needed some sewing to be properly attached.

Soulland SS11 @ Copenhagen Fashion Week

Soulland offered a peek at what they had in store for SS11. Silas Adler disclosed that he found inspiration in Leonard Cohen's poem "The Suit".
Soulland and Silas Adler gives their own interpretation of the modern day suit in shades of black and grey. The SS11 collection consist of casual tailoring with their very own twist.
Soullands dedication to precision craftsmanship and subtle details come to light in the new collection and the result is an extremely well adjustet line of casual formal wear

Another wardrobe addition

Wool herringbone Trousers

At a price of $ 39, I am more than satisfied with my latest purchase. I have been searching for a pair with the right fit and color for a long time. But in the end I was rescued, by the always faithful Ebay.

Brown slim fit wool herrinbonge trousers
$ 39 on Ebay
Seller : withamyshop
I have never had any other option than slim fit. I have fairly slim legs, so straight leg fit look baggy as hell.

The quality is great and I love the light and dark brown color combo in the herringbone pattern.

Before they arrived I was a bit suspecious about the quality being dodgy, giving the fact that they shipped out of Korea, not exactly quality capitol number 1. But upon arrival I was pleasantly suprised.

I think these heavy wool trousers are a perfect addition to the more business casual side of a wardrobe and for semi-formal everyday use.

My Latest Wardrobe Addition

I have been searching for a decent pair of boots for the last couple and months and finally decided to go with these:

I know, ECCO is not exactly known to make the most appealing shoes in the world, but I still fell in love with this particular model (and were able to buy them with a 50 % discount).

I originally wanted to get a pair from ASOS but the I think they have taken the military trend a step too far. I like the fact that I am still able to wear the ECCO boots to work without looking a soldier from the second world war…
The boots can be purchased from this site.

Powerful Portraits

I am not much of a color person, but even I can't deny that the portraits of Francoise Nielly are delicious to look at.
The palette knife becomes a powerful tool in the hands of the French painter.
Francoise Nielly grew up in the South of France but now lives and works in Paris. Where most artists are inspired by the calm countryside, Francoise Nielly draws all of her energy and inspiration from the urban enviroment and the big crowds in Paris, Vancouver and New York.

Her interpretation of the light in the pictures that inspires her paintings and the amazing color combination, makes her portraits one of a kind.

Watch her paint in this French interview and see for yourself how the master works.
